Murcia schoolchildren start the course (07/09/2018)

The City Council has increased the investment for the refurbishment of the educational centers of the municipality, with a total amount of 1,256,000 euros.

Throughout this course the City will build numerous pergolas and shading systems to take the shade to the courtyards of the schools of neighborhoods and districts.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, Rafael Gómez, attended the beginning of the school year 2018/2019 at the Cierva Peñafiel school in Murcia, where 245 children's classes have started today. and Primary.

The City Council has increased investment for the conditioning of schools in Murcia in more than 100,000 euros in this year 2018, with a total investment of 1,256,000 euros that have been allocated to the conditioning of spaces and repairs in schools throughout of the summer.

In addition, the City Council, through the Department of Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, has significantly increased the investment to provide more shaded areas in the playgrounds of schools, and will allocate 147,000 euros throughout this course for the construction of pergolas and shadows in numerous schools in neighborhoods and districts.

To these investments must be added the 5.5 million that are used to pay for the maintenance of the centers throughout the year and which is entrusted to a team of more than 500 professionals composed of cleaners, janitors, brigades, architects, etc.

The Consistory also defrays the expenses derived from heating and electricity with 1.3 million euros.

186 centers in the municipality

The total school population of the municipality is composed of about 74,800 students from 3 to 18 years old, who study in the 186 centers of the municipality.

Of these, 116 are public centers for early childhood education, primary education or special education;

25 are public centers of Secondary Education, FP and Baccalaureate;

44 educational centers and a private center

Today begin the small children's classes and Primary, but the next day 12 begin the course Secondary students.

'My city teaches'

Through the Educational Offer 'My City Teaches', the City offers activities during school hours among children in Primary, Secondary and Secondary, related to the dissemination of the historical, artistic, scientific, ethnographic and natural heritage of the city, its districts and orchard.

The total number of activities scheduled for the school year 2017/2018 amounted to 95 having participated in them a total of 62,016 students / as which implies a participation of 97.85% of schools in the municipality and 82.89% of the students

On the other hand, in the past school year 267 activities were carried out outside the school hours in the centers of Murcia.
