NOW MURCIA denounces that the exterior of the Palacio Almudí, a protected building, has become these last nights in "an excessive parking of motorcycles without any control".

Councilor Alicia Morales has demanded today the municipal government to take measures so that this situation does not happen again in the coming days, "since the massive presence of motorcycles can negatively affect the facade of the historic building and the sculpture of Antonio Campillo there installed, besides posing a nuisance and a danger for pedestrians and making difficult the passage of people with reduced mobility ".

Morales says that the city of Murcia can not become every time there are parties "in a kind of jungle in which anything goes" and notes that the municipal government has the obligation to provide "real solutions" to mobility and parking of the private vehicles throughout the year "and also during these holiday periods".

The Almudí Palace is a municipal building cataloged by its relevance in the PECHA (Special Plan of the Artistic Historical Set of Murcia) and in the PGOU (General Plan of Urban Planning), so it has a special protection.

"In addition," says the councilor, "in recent months has been the object of the City of a rehabilitation amounting to hundreds of thousands of euros." It does not make sense that now the same City Council allows the building is subjected to threats to the that, according to the law, should not be exposed, the emissions of the motorcycles next to the facade are pernicious, and can cause broken or chipped in said façade, as well as in the sculpture of Antonio Campillo 'Venus en bicicleta' present in the exterior of the Almudí Palace. "

For this reason, now Murcia has been asked today in writing to the Councilor for Police, Lola Sanchez, and the mayor, explanations for these events, and we have brought them to the attention of the Directorate General of Cultural Assets.

The mayor demands that the municipal government "not only dedicate to inaugurate illuminations but to advocate for a real protection of the cultural and artistic heritage of the municipality," and points out that "Now Murcia is interested and concerned about our parties, and therefore we demand that be a party in which mobility, security and coexistence of neighbors and visitors are guaranteed ".
