The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, reported today after his meeting with the Secretary of State for the Environment, Hugo Morán, that "a mixed technical commission will be set up between both institutions for the bidding of the work of the collector of the North Zone as soon as possible, since the project has already been completed and delivered to the Ministry ".

José Ballesta has put on the table "the urgent need to undertake this project that will solve once and for all the systematic floods that occur in the ravines of Espinardo, Churra and Cabezo de Torres, every time it rains".

Ballesta and Morán have also treated the necessary preventive works that can be carried out in the Cuenca del Segura, while the large rainwater collector is not running.

"The Ministry has committed to develop theirs and we to obtain the necessary permits to be able to act in those channels that are property of the State", clarified the alderman.

The various aspects of Murcia River have also been addressed and the mayor has requested the collaboration of the Ministry in the environmental regeneration of the meanders of the Segura, through the call of the PIMA Adapta program, since "our project is perfectly suited to the characteristics defined by the Ministry. "

Likewise, the expansion of the Murcia East wastewater treatment plant, whose preliminary draft has been published in the DOCE, has been discussed.

"We have insisted on the need for the expansion of the same, since it was planned for 100,000 m3 / day and is already at the limit of its capacity," said José Ballesta, who added that "we have also dealt with the recovery of La Contraparada and the theme of the Valdelentisco irrigators ".

The mayor valued the institutional loyalty of the Secretary of State and requested the streamlining of all these projects of state competence in the municipality of Murcia, since "after this first contact, time have to materialize and develop."
