Murcia now denounces the risk of holding major concerts in the Artillery Barracks coinciding with the works on the premises (05/09/2018)

-The exterior of several pavilions of the Artillery Barracks is currently "full of fences, construction materials, heavy vehicles ...", and "part of the access to the Cuartel courtyard is occupied by the fencing of the buildings, in which In addition, danger signs are observed due to falling objects, danger due to unevenness and works, etc. "

- "The Artillery Barracks, in works, does not seem the right place to guarantee 100% the security of the assistants, who also in this type of events are concentrated in the surroundings of the enclosure from hours and even days before, arriving to camp "

- Alicia Morales emphasizes that the access for a possible evacuation during the concert could be affected by the works

NOW MURCIA denounces the risk that the next days big concerts will be held at the Artillery Barracks, coinciding with the works that are being carried out on the premises.

The councilor Alicia Morales points out that in the last collective days of the neighborhood of Carmen, neighbors and users of the Barracks are showing their concern that the courtyard of the enclosure will be the stage soon - on September 14 and 15 and during the autumn - of concerts that will gather thousands of people "in a place that in the current circumstances does not seem adequate to ensure 100% the safety of the attendees, who also in this type of events are concentrated in the environment of the enclosure from hours and even days before , coming to camp. "

The mayor also stresses that the access for a possible evacuation during the concert could be affected by the works, "because the pavilion 1, which in normal conditions is an access road to the courtyard of the barracks, is closed by the works, while the fences in the area could hinder a massive exit in case of emergency ".

In view of this situation, Murcia has now asked the government team for all the permits and documentation concerning the next concerts, with special attention to the self-protection plan, for which a copy has been requested.

"We want to know how accesses, exits, and evacuation zones are going to be enabled for this event," Morales explains, "and if the new circumstances in the Cuartel have been taken into account with respect to previous major concerts, due to the current works , or if on the contrary the self-protection plan is a new one 'cuts and hits', as we have already seen this municipal government do on numerous occasions ".

The councilor insists that the exterior of several pavilions of the Artillery Barracks is located

currently "full of fences, construction materials, heavy vehicles ...", and that "part of the access to the courtyard of the barracks are occupied by the fencing of the buildings, which also observe danger signs by falling objects, danger by unevenness and by works, etc. ".

Morales also reminds that this area is trafficked every day by hundreds of minors, "because they are in these pavilions a municipal library and the Conservatory of Music, plus a nursery and a study room, among other facilities."

On the other hand, Alicia Morales questions "the occupation of public spaces for private uses, as is the case of the Patio del Cuartel and these concerts, which deprive neighbors for days of the use of this space to which they are entitled and cause inconvenience" .

The councilor also asks the municipal government if it is going to charge some kind of rent or fee and what has been and will be the role of the municipal services regarding this musical event.
