The Murcia Fair has a tent SOS BREATHE to avoid choking (04/09/2018)

The City of Murcia, the MAPFRE Foundation, the Federation of Cooks and Reposteros of Spain and SEMES present this campaign that aims to reduce deaths due to obstruction of the airway, which can be avoided with simple maneuvers.

The tent, in which different workshops will be held, will be located on the Malecón from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Sports and Health directed by Felipe Coello has presented the campaign 'SOS RESPIRA', with Firo Vázquez, Ambassador of the Federation of Associations of Cooks and Reposteros of Spain (FACYRE in Murcia), Antonio Guzmán, Director of Health of Fundación MAPFRE, Pascual Piñera, President of the Spanish Society of Emergency and Emergency Medicine (SEMES Murcia) and Pablo González, Chef Restaurant La Cabaña.

This program, which since its launch has trained more than 7,000 restaurants and businesses and more than 40,000 people throughout Spain, aims to inform the population about the guidelines for action against a choking, as well as contribute to the hotel and catering establishments are more secure against this type of accidents.

To this end, workshops will be held on public roads, specifically in a tent that will be installed at the entrance of the Malecon, with hours from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am, where health technicians from SEMES will teach all those Murcians who wish to do so. act quickly and effectively against a choking by the Heimlich maneuver, as well as other guidelines including distinguishing a mild choking from a severe one, or the need to notify the 112.

Information will also be offered on the importance of cutting food into small pieces, chewing properly and not eating while walking.

In addition, it is reported the importance of paying special attention to the smallest to avoid scares of this type, removing small objects from their reach and watching everything they put in their mouths.

"From the City of Murcia we understand that the Fair is a suitable date, taking advantage of all Murcia are on the street, to explain the guidelines to follow before a choking case, an important issue that can save lives with a simple gesture. To do this, a tent will be installed at the entrance to the Malecón, available to all the neighbors who come these days to the Gardens, "said Felipe Coello.
