The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the councilors of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, and of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz, today inaugurated the exhibition 'Our heritage in your hands', with reproductions to scale of the Cathedral and the Sanctuary of the Fuensanta.

"This is the first two inclusive works of art that make up the Murcia's tiflológico museum, which offers blind and visually impaired people the opportunity to discover these monumental spaces through touch," the mayor said. These reproductions that can be visited in the Glorieta I Room "will be installed in the next days in the surroundings of both spaces and will become points of tourist attraction".

The works, with Braille writing, QR codes with audiovisual information accessible to people with blindness or visual impairment through the mobile phone, are made of cast aluminum and hand-modeled by hand, without sharp edges so that they can touch, feel and feel .

The inauguration was attended by the vice president of the ONCE Territorial Council, Inmaculada Carrillo, the president of the Association of Users of Guide Dogs, María Dolores García, the secretary of the Association of Deafblind Persons Asocide, Jesús Valero, and the creator of the works, Amando López, from the Fundirmetal workshop.

To the Cathedral -a key work of the Spanish Baroque whose construction lasted for four centuries and celebrates 551 years of its Consecration- and the Sanctuary of the Fuensanta, also of Baroque style and whose construction began in 1694, "other buildings will soon be incorporated of the city, such as the Romea Theater, La Glorieta or the Las Claras convent, "said José Ballesta.

The models reproduce with millimeter fidelity each detail of the two monuments (from the imafronte of the Cathedral, its bell tower or the chains that surround the Chapel of the Vélez up to the dome or the lateral towers of the central façade of La Fuensanta), so that Blind people can feel with their hands every corner and architectural element.
