The Faculties of Law and Letters of the University of Murcia are united this Tuesday, September 4, to the celebration of the Day of the Romanidad with the projection of the film The life of Brian (1979).
The activity will take place at 5:00 pm in the Antonio Soler classroom of the La Merced Campus.
In addition, there will be a colloquium led by José Antonio Molina, professor of Ancient History, and Adolfo A. Díaz Bautista, professor of Roman Law.
The event, which will be attended by the rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, is free and free entry until full capacity is reached.
The Day of the Romanidad is commemorated for the first time this year as a way of remembering the common cultural origin that unites peoples of the three continents through which the Roman Empire extended.
The date of September 4 was chosen because it was on September 4, 476, when Odoacer deposed Rómulo Augústulo and formally liquidated what little remained of the Western Roman Empire.
The initiative has started from a group of scholars from the classical world and its proposal has been welcomed by universities, cities and study centers across the country.
