Starting Friday, the streets of Riquelme, San Benito, Magdalena, Vinader and Conde de Roche will change direction, mid-morning, due to the execution of the bike lane from Pasarela Manterola to Plaza Circular and from Plaza Díez de Revenga to Avenida de los Pinos, which runs through the center of the city.

For this reason, brochures have been deposited in neighbors' mailboxes, informative signs have been placed and vertical signage has been modified, in order to inform drivers and residents of this variation in situ.

This change, which will be permanent, will enable a more agile mobility to be able to travel north and south (previously only north) through these streets with the shared bike-car traffic format, with the consequent calming of traffic and safety for cyclists .

For the correct functioning of the bike lanes in execution, a complete mobility study of the area that has been included in the aforementioned project has been carried out.

This study has made a capacity of vehicles to know what is the intensity of real traffic, both Riquelme Street and San Nicolás Street.

Given that at the present time both streets run in a northbound direction, by modifying one of them, all traffic circulating in the north is forced to circulate exclusively along San Nicolás Street.

From the surveys and the corresponding traffic study, it can be seen that this street has more than enough capacity to absorb traffic from Riquelme Street, so there is no problem in making this proposal to change direction.

On the other hand, with the change of direction that is carried out, the circulation of the area in the north and the south is allowed, a circumstance that previously did not occur.

Based on this mobility study, it has been proposed to modify the direction of circulation of other streets in the immediate surroundings.

In addition to those already mentioned -Cuesta de la Magdalena, San Benito and Riquelme- it has been considered convenient to improve the mobility circuits of the area, also changing the traffic direction of Vinader street and Conde de Roche street.
