The 80 parking spaces of the new San Antón car park will be available to Murcia this autumn (30/08/2018)

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilors of Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection, Lola Sánchez, and of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, and the president of the Murcian Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida (Amupheb), Carmen Gil, today visited the works of the first parking solidarity of Murcia, which is located in the neighborhood of San Antón, next to the FREMM and the access route to Ronda Norte.

This space will offer almost 80 free parking spaces in an area of ​​170 m2.

The works began at the end of last May and are expected to conclude this fall.

The works have involved an investment of 140,000 euros.

In this way, a new parking area will be offered to residents of the area bounded by San Antón, Calle de las Norias, Calle Olof Palme and Calle Nueva de San Antón, and users of different public services such as FREMM, the Maestro José Castaño school or the Jesús y María school.

This new infrastructure will be the first solidarity car park in the Region since, although it can be used completely free of charge, drivers will be able to give a voluntary donation to the Murcian Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida, who will install a shelter in the parking lot in which volunteers will disclose and inform about this disease and the activity carried out by the association.

Drivers who wish may give a donation.

The Murcian Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida (Amupheb), established in 1980, is a non-profit organization that has 220 users and whose mission is to promote the quality of life and full integration of those affected by spina bifida. and their families through activities and assistance services, educational, recreational, work, training, cultural, sports ...

Adapted vehicles, motorcycles and a bike park

The parking project has been raised with a central street of 5.50 meters wide and two side parking belts.

Each square will have dimensions of 2.50 by 4.50 meters.

This will allow the creation of 65 places for vehicles, three places for vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility, placed in line, seven places for motorcycles and a bicycle park.

In addition, on the new sidewalk that will be built will be installed points of light with LED lighting of low consumption and 14 trees will be planted.
