The Catholic University has opened the deadline for pre-registration of the new vocational training cycles of Middle Grade Vocational Training in 'Underwater and Hyperbaric Operations' and that of 'Emergencies and Civil Protection', which will be taught in the facilities of the Catholic University in Los Dolores and in those held by the company SGS, world leader in inspection, verification, testing and certification in the port of Cartagena and the specialized school SGS Maritime & Offshore International Center.
The San Antonio Vocational Training Institute, based in the Campus of the UCAM in Cartagena, has established an agreement with the Swiss multinational SGS, an institution committed to training and which has placed a strong bet on the Region of Murcia, establishing in the Port of Cartagena a center of activity for the offshore sector in the Mediterranean.
With the agreement of implantation in the facilities of the Catholic University in Los Dolores two new modules of FP of average degree adapted to the professional profile that the world leader company in inspection, verification, testing and certification and other companies in the sector need in terms of personnel for the maritime and offshore sector, as well as for emergency response.
Both cycles, which are in process in the Autonomous Community, have a high demand for employment in the public and private sector, providing the students with a complete and very specific preparation to work in the marine and offshore sector, known as the job sector on oil platforms and offshore wind generation.
In this way, SGS offers the possibility of forming part of its job pool to the graduates in these two new areas for future joint projects, together with its specialized unit in Cartagena, the Underwater & Special Operations Unit.
Such will be the practical link of these degrees, that the theoretical and practical classes will be taught in the Campus of the Catholic University San Antonio in Los Dolores as well as through the SGS Maritime & Offshore International Center (MOIC), the specialized Training School that the multinational has established in Cartagena and has state-of-the-art facilities both in the city and in its port.
In this, diving practices will be developed, which will be carried out aboard several of the Swiss company's boats equipped with the latest advances
technological, in which the student will learn from the hand of highly specialized professionals the knowledge that this activity requires every day.
The students of the emergency cycle, would benefit from the latest generation simulators, as well as vehicles and emergency response material that the multinational unit has in its Cartagena base, a benchmark in the response to international incidents .
Extension of the degrees at UCAM Cartagena
These two new areas are added to the FP degrees of Early Childhood Education that is already taught at the Los Dolores Campus and the Sociodeportive Animation Technician that will also be implemented during the course that begins in September at the same facilities as the UCAM in Cartagena .
Thus the University Foundation San Antonio continues to increase the degrees offered in Cartagena, where they also teach the degrees of Nursing, Physiotherapy, Sports Science, Criminology, Early Childhood and Primary Education, examinations of online degrees in Psychology, Administration and Business Management, Tourism, Computer Engineering and Law, and learning training is offered in Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Chinese.
