The Department of Urbanism, Environment, Water and Vegetable Garden, the Regional Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs and the School of Art have signed a collaboration protocol that will allow the reuse of used tires as a means of environmental protection and sustainable urban development model .

Thanks to this agreement, activities will be carried out focused on the reuse of the used tire that, at the same time, will make the public aware of the importance of recycling.

Thus, a contest of ideas will be convened in which the students of the School of Art of Murcia and those of the Cycle of Professional Training of Jewelery of the Regional Federation of Metal Businessmen of Murcia will participate, establishing as a category the artistic jewelery and the techniques sculptures, always made with used wheels.

Likewise, the celebration, during the next Spring Festival, of the 'Craft Fair in Green', an open-air museum of all the proposals presented in the contest, so that Murcia can know the possibilities offered by the tire as a subject cousin.

Exhibitors will also be installed related to the reuse of various materials to create new products and will study the possibility that the sculptor Angel Cañas, a leading artist in Spain in the use of tires as a raw material, visit Murcia to give a talk and expose some Of his works.

Councilor Antonio Navarro explained that "we consider of great importance the promotion of actions aimed at protecting the environment and sustainable urban development, through projects that promote recycling and reuse of different materials that can cause pollution and the same time we promote the development of outreach activities that promote environmental education and culture. "

Thanks to this protocol, the City Council will organize and subsidize the different activities to be carried out, the FREMM, through its association Neumatimur, will provide the used tires necessary for the realization of the works by the students of the School of Art and of the own federation, while the School of Art will include in its training programs the realization of a work with tire used as raw material.
