The PSOE regrets the new wave of robberies and says that it would be avoided with a sufficient increase of police officers to cover present and future needs (24/08/2018)

Councilman Juan Vicente Larrosa warns that "in these moments in which we have a staff of Local Police depleted citizens should be the first"

For the Municipal Socialist Group, it is no surprise that neighbors warn of thefts in their homes during the summer.

"It is, unfortunately, too common, especially in districts, because there is a cultivation ground that favors this unfortunate situation of waves of robberies, for example, the scarce police presence, the dispersion of housing, which is easy to find empty in this time, in areas of the orchard without lighting and the abandonment of orchards and ditches whose vegetation of thickets and canes suppose a good hiding place for the thieves ", affirms the councilman Juan Vicente Larrosa.

This is the case of the residents of the Ermita del Rosario, with whom the Socialist candidate for mayor, José Antonio Serrano, and council members Begoña García Retegui and Juan Vicente Larrosa met this week.

Serrano believes that citizen security is essential to ensure the welfare of residents of the municipality.

For this reason, he believes that it is necessary to increase the staff of the Local Police, which would allow covering the needs of vigilance and prevention of criminal acts such as those that are taking place this summer in an alarming manner in the district of Los Garres.

It also considers it essential to carry out a detailed and comprehensive report on future security needs in the municipality, in view of the entry into force of the Law on Early Retirement, which may entail a considerable reduction in the number of Local Police personnel.

It also proposes a calendar of meetings of the Local Safety Board, which is regularly followed, "not only to coordinate the different police forces during the holidays, but also to solve criminal problems of the municipality that arise when they arise."

Larrosa recalls that, specifically, the residents of Ermita del Rosario (orchard area between Los Garres, Los Dolores and Barrio del Progreso) are vigilant and are informed via whatsapp of what they see suspicious and this "has its risks because it can cause some neighborhood confrontation. "

In addition, he points out that "apparently, because of what they tell us, thieves are an organized gang that has studied how to access homes and where to go out";

for that reason, the neighbors demand police presence that dissuades, because "the agents appear when they are called but it is when the theft has already taken place".

On the other hand, the socialist councilor, who recalls once again the lack of local police officers and denounces the "reckless and irresponsible delay with the call for new places," criticizes that "while the PP prioritizes that the few agents we have destined to monitor the deposit of goods in the streets, as recently announced, the safety of our neighbors will be at stake, and in these moments when we have a depleted workforce, citizens should be the first.
