The Municipal Office of the Graffiti has cleaned more than 13,700 m² of surface in the municipality (23/08/2018)

During these first two years of the implementation of the Municipal Office of Graffiti have been allocated more than 10,000 hours of work and have received more than 764 requests from different entities.

More than 70 activities and 42 murals have been made.

In total 400 young people have attended awareness talks in which the difference between art and vandalism has been explained to them.

The Municipal Office of Graffiti, under the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services directed by Rebeca Pérez, and Ferrovial Servicios, has cleaned more than 13,700 square meters of surface since it was created.

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services directed by Rebeca Pérez, created the Municipal Office of Graffiti for the removal of vandalic graffiti that disfigure and spoil the public and private heritage of the municipality, either through the use of traditional methods of cleaning or through the rehabilitation of spaces with the realization of artistic murals.

During these first two years of the implementation of the Office of Graffiti cleaning interventions have been carried out in more than 13,700 square meters of surface.

More than 10,000 hours of work have been allocated and more than 764 applications have been received from different entities.

It has also consumed more than 5,500 kg of paint stripper and plastic paint.

More than 70 activities have also been carried out, both for artistic promotion through the realization of murals and with participatory workshops and awareness-raising activities.

The Municipal Office of Graffiti also works in the advice and attention to the citizen, prevention and awareness and artistic promotion, participation.

Local, national and international artists have filled our streets with more than 42 murals.

Young people are also protagonists, 400 have attended awareness talks in which the difference between art and vandalism has been explained to them.

Thanks to this initiative, the city of Murcia is becoming a benchmark for both urban art and management model.

The Brazilian Eduardo Kobra has painted in Murcia the first mural he makes in Spain.

More than 200 square meters on the side facade of the Puertas de Castilla cultural center.

This urban artist is one of the most recognized worldwide for its colors and geometric patterns, has also entered the Guinness Book of Records when painting the largest mural in the world, with 2,500 square meters in Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic Games .

"From the City Council of Murcia we try to make young people aware of the importance of keeping the municipality clean of graffiti, as well as inviting them to participate in different planned urban art creations, and we are looking at the promotion of local artists and in the name of Murcia as a national reference for urban art "said Rebeca Pérez.

Special cleanings are also scheduled within the usual cleaning operations from the office.

Some of them have been carried out in projects such as DNA in Los Rosales, Los Garres or Los Rosales, parades and protected buildings.

"It is a new tourist attraction for all those who visit our city, one of the demands that are most requested is the realization of murals.They have been made in the side street of the Circus Theater, in Monteagudo, Cabezo de Torres or in the Park Fofó on the occasion of the #Murciasemueve event, among others "added Rebeca Pérez.

The Municipal Graffiti Office has numerous recognitions, including the Escoba de Platino award in Madrid, awarded by Ategrus in the international fair of urbanism and the environment TECMA 2018, which is held every two years.

In addition, it is a reference for other Spanish cities that have advised as Madrid, Valencia or Cordoba.
