The budget of 2018 exceeds the procedure of the Finance Committee without any vote against (22/08/2018)

The Committee on Infrastructure, Finance and General Affairs has given its approval to the General Municipal Budget for the year 2018 with the favorable votes of PP and Citizens and the abstention of the other opposition groups present, and of the non-attached councilor.

The next procedure will occur next Tuesday, day 28, with the celebration of the extraordinary plenary session that will debate its approval.

The project presented by the Councilor for Finance, Contracting and Urban Mobility, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, amounts to 418.2 million euros and provides an expenditure per inhabitant of 936 euros, compared with 521 euros of tax revenue for Murcia.

The approved accounts have as a fundamental milestone the social character.

In particular, the items destined to subsidies and transfers grow by 10%, to stand at € 6.2M, while the costs of care programs for the elderly, children at risk of exclusion, women and families, increase by € 3.6 to reach 12.3. M €

These budgets will make it possible to meet the basic needs of vulnerable citizens, as well as develop social intervention plans in Cabezo de Torres and La Paz, increase the number of home help places and boost the measures of the Equal Opportunities, Accessibility plans Universal and Comprehensive Plan for Children, among other programs.

On the other hand, the Personnel chapter increases 7.6 million euros, which represents 6.15% to face the public offer of employment, compliance with the agreement of working conditions of the officials, the remunicipalization of services and the rise of 1.6% of the salary of the staff of the City Council.

With respect to financial expenses, the load is reduced by 26.8%, mainly due to the amortization of loans made in recent years.

On the contrary, current transfers are one of the chapters that has increased the most (7%) due to the improvements planned in public transport as a consequence of the recovery of frequencies in district lines.

As for investments, they stand at 39 million euros, with important items for the remodeling and creation of green areas of districts, for the annuity corresponding to underground works and the execution of strategic projects.

Improve living conditions

The income of the City Council will be conditioned by policies aimed at improving people's living conditions and promoting economic opportunities, which is why tax rates are once again kept unchanged and measures to reduce the tax burden on families , administrative simplification and the promotion of employment.

Thus, with this Budget it reduces the rate of fords by around 45% -50%, the price of water decreases by approximately 2% and the rate of discharge to the sewage system by the communities disappears.

Also, the forecast of income of the IBI in urban to the downside was revised, and, in paper, to the rise, as a result of the cadastral revision that is finishing the Ministry of Property.

Similarly, the progressive recovery of the construction sector, as well as the indicators of new vehicle registrations, allow us to foresee higher revenues in the ICIO and the Vehicle Tax.

The Budget has been the result of the agreement of the Government Team of the Popular Party with Citizens, whose keys are collected in a document of 34 measures, affecting 11 areas of management, which has been signed and made known to all Murcia, and which aims to continue advancing in the general interest of all residents of the municipality, with actions that will improve the administration and increase the quality of public services.
