The City Council renews the driving of Sagasta Street with a new technology without ditches (21/08/2018)

The Town Hall and Aguas de Murcia are developing different works contemplated in their plan of actions for the summer months.

Mayor José Ballesta visited the works that are being carried out on Sagasta Street in order to improve the supply and sanitation networks in the area.

This action consists in the renewal of the existing pipeline in this road, 190 linear meters in length, by installing a ductile iron pipe using trenchless technology thanks to the Bursting method.

This system consists in the creation of an entrance pit and an exit pit thanks to which an old pipeline is replaced by a new one without the need to open a trench.

This technology lowers construction costs and significantly reduces their time.

The works include the connections to the existing network in the same street Sagasta at the height of the Bendame street and as well as those planned at the intersection of Mariano Girada street with Santa Teresa street and Sagasta street.

These connections will be executed using the traditional open trench system.

To the existing line of Sagasta Street there are 30 residential connections that supply the adjoining buildings and two fire hydrants.

To maintain the continuity of the supply service, it was necessary to install a provisional network prior to the start of work and during all the works there is archaeological supervision.

In this project a total of 163,874 euros have been invested and its completion is scheduled for the second half of next September.

Thanks to these works, a pipeline that is around 50 years old and has suffered different breakages such as those that occurred in August of last year and in December 2016 will be renewed.
