The "Networks for free time: another way of moving" program, developed by the Youth service since 2000, will have funding this year from the fund of assets confiscated for drug trafficking and other related crimes.
Networks offers free leisure activities and weekend free time for young people from 12 to 30 years old, who can participate in activities that suppose an alternative of healthy leisure and, in addition, they are made in different places of the municipal term to make possible the participation of a greater number of young people, regardless of their place of residence.
In this way, workshops are organized in cultural centers, municipal youth spaces or pavilions and municipal sports centers, among other locations.
These are real alternatives to fill the free time of young people with activities that can be attractive and favor the prevention of risks and, therefore, healthy lifestyles.
This is intended to give a global and systematic response to a phenomenon clearly consolidated in youth culture, such as the association between leisure and the use of alcohol and other drugs.
This year will have a contribution of 68,600 euros from the Ministry of Social Services and Equality, under the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, which was granted last June, within the call for financial aid to local corporations for the development of programs for the prevention of drug addiction.
The amount granted represents 70% of the total cost of the program, without considering the costs of municipal, official or labor fixed personnel, nor the usual maintenance of the spaces used, and is the maximum amount to subsidize established in the call.
