The problem of the Mar Menor, addressed in an Unimar course that connects art and science (08/08/2018)

The beach of Los Urrutias will host, between 11 and 16 September, the laboratory of artistic experience 'Mar Menor Lab. Art and Science for a landscape in crisis', an activity framed in the activities of the Universidad Internacional del Mar.

Through a series of lectures, workshops and on-site explorations, the need to find new hybrid knowledge spaces that connect Art and Science will be addressed.

All this with the purpose of rethinking the vision of nature, ecology, anthropocentrism and art before a problem such as the environmental crisis of the Mar Menor.

Thirty participants will have the opportunity to be part of this meeting between creators, thinkers and scientists interested in the connections between art and science.

During those days the assistants will immerse themselves in the environment of the Mar Menor.

For this, the course proposes a multidisciplinary approach that will include the presence of prestigious professionals such as Susana Cámara Leret and María Boto Ordóñez, artists and researchers in the field of art and science;

María Ptqk, researcher specialized in the intersections between art and technoscience;

Clara Boj, artist and teacher at the Faculty of Fine Arts;

Alba G. Corral, visual artist specializing in real-time generative graphic programming;

Diego Díaz, artist and doctor of Fine Arts;

and Ángel Pérez Ruzafa, Professor of Ecology specializing in Ecology of Marine Ecosystems.

This course is part of the R & D project 'Reset: Mar Menor.
