The PSOE regrets that the City Council is "unable" to have open the Floridablanca Garden for "lack of foresight" (07/08/2018)

Councilman Juan Vicente Larrosa recalls that this space, of the few outdoors that ensure shade in the city, has been closed for almost two weeks due to high temperatures and he wonders if among the 100,000 performances!

sold by the mayor for green areas is not included for this park Carmen neighborhood

One of the main gardens of the city and without a doubt the most emblematic one, that of Floridablanca, still has its eight doors closed at a time when the park surrounding a gate and located in the Carmen neighborhood is one of the few outdoor public places in which the residents of the capital can find some shade in these hot days.

The Local Police announced at the end of July through its Twitter account that the garden would reopen its doors on Tuesday of last week, but seven days have passed and the accesses are still closed with chains and in them there are posters in which you can read the message 'Garden closed by adverse weather conditions'.

The reason is that high temperatures, the usual year after year in Murcia, do not guarantee the safety of passersby because the extreme heat affects the large trees that are in this space and can be registered the fall of branches.

"A few months ago, specifically in January and then in March, the garden was closed to the public by the wind, which is more understandable, and now it is the heat and when it will not be the rain. find a different solution to close the doors simply for lack of foresight, "says Larrosa referring to a historic garden that dates from the eighteenth century and was the first public that opened in Spain.

The park, which has the name of politician, jurist and economist José Moñino Redondo, count of Floridablanca, who was minister in the service of King Carlos III, was closed with a gate in 1786, which gives it a romantic air that remains with the the passage of time and the contribution of the majestic ficus centenaries that are in it, as well as the sculptures that pay homage to artists from Murcia such as the sculptor Antonio Garrigós or the poets José Selgas and Pedro Jara Carrillo and the monument to Nazareno 'Colorao' in honor to the Brotherhood of the Blood, which has its headquarters in the neighboring church of Carmen.

"It is a symbolic place of the city and a place for the use and enjoyment of citizenship, but every two times it closes when a plan should be applied to have it better conditioned," explains Larrosa, who is surprised by the announcement made today. same on the part of the mayor, José Ballesta, and the Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, saying that 100,000 performances are planned!

in the 3,000 green zones of the municipality within the Special Summer Plan when both are "unable" to have the Floridablanca garden open.

"If it is because of the danger posed by the possible fall of branches, we must note that in other parts of the city there are also large trees that can be as dangerous or more so than those in this garden. X The Sage broke a branch yesterday that did not fall to the ground because another nearby tree avoided it.From the City Council should act in such a way that this park will be closed as little as possible, especially in these days in which the intense heat invites to look for the shade in green zones of the municipality ", affects the socialist councilor.
