Cs requires the PP to take public education seriously and eliminate the barracks of the schools (07/08/2018)

The mayor Pilar Muñoz regrets that the regional and local government continue to make decisions without planning and without the slightest empathy towards students and teachers who in the XXI century attend classes in third world conditions

It also demands the mayor Ballesta to intensify the negotiation with the Ministry of Education to prevent a third line from being opened at the Nuestra Señora de Belén school, without having the necessary spaces, as approved in the June plenary session.

The mayor of Ciudadanos Pilar Muñoz has demanded that the PP make a firm commitment to public school and end, once and for all, with the barracks of schools throughout the Autonomous Community.

"It is unfortunate that at this point there continue to be barracks in more than twenty educational centers in the Region and to start the September classes in these conditions", lamented Muñoz.

"This type of attitude on the part of those who have been in the regional and local government for more than several decades is very bad and confirms their lack of planning and their scant interest in offering quality public education in an appropriate infrastructure and environment," he said.

Thus, the councilor of orange training recalled that "for years many students have had to attend classes in barracks-enduring high temperatures, various noises and other discomforts, while the PP has not given a solution to a situation that, from the beginning , it must have been exceptional, non-recurrent and maintained over time. "

"The barracks, Muñoz insisted, should be the exception, not becoming the general norm, which is what is happening in the Region and in our municipality."

Plenary: Our Lady of Bethlehem

Thus, he made reference to the extension announced for the next course of the center Our Lady of Bethlehem, which will mean that students study in barracks, something that the corporation of the City of Murcia refused at the Plenary last June.

"If carried out in this way, without planning and without the necessary infrastructures, the PP will go against the quality of education, damaging the students considerably".

In this sense, Muñoz reminded Ballesta that "we are still in time to avoid opening a third line without having adequate spaces, as we approved in the Plenary";

and he has demanded that "intensify the negotiation with the Ministry of Education to prevent this from happening and establish barracks".

"A situation that has occurred, Muñoz stressed, would clash head-on with the policy we defend in Cs on the imperative to end the barracks in the Spanish educational system and firmly bet on a quality public school with infrastructure in line with the XXI century".
