Navarro advises Cs to "learn the reality of Murcia instead of pulling manual" (06/08/2018)

"It is surprising that they have not learned that our City Council is the first in the Region and one of the few in Spain that has a Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change, a commitment acquired after joining the European Covenant of Mayors initiative in 2016 climate and energy, "said Navarro

Popular councilor Antonio Navarro considers "very clear" that Citizens "demonstrate that either they are not interested in projects related to sustainability and environmental culture, or they do not know the work developed by the City Council in this field, which has earned it national and international recognitions ".

In his opinion "this clumsiness is explained by his eagerness to pull manual without worrying first to know the reality of Murcia.

Their demonstrations can be used for other cities, but certainly not for ours. "

So much so that just a month ago the Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change was presented, in which 31 measures of the 61 existing proposals were prioritized, with a cost of € 17.5 million.

This document places Murcia among the first Spanish cities that have this instrument, essential to face a sustainable future, "but it seems that the municipal group of Citizens has not heard," regrets Navarro.

"It should be a source of pride for everyone, also for Cs" that the City of Murcia has taken the initiative and has become the first in the Region and one of the few in Spain to have a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy , commitment acquired after its accession in 2016 to the European Covenant of Mayors initiative for climate and energy.

Also, Murcia has a Local Electric Vehicle Strategy, driven by the Department of Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Garden, which has fifty measures that were prioritized after a long participatory process.

Among them, the public and free network of electric chargers, free parking in squares of ORA and zone of free residents, motosharing electric public and private, aid for the installation of chargers in communities of owners and for the acquisition of electric vehicles.

"And in this line we continue working", says Antonio Navarro, who recalls that this work has been recognized in the international sphere, since the City Council received the "Transformation 2017" award from the Civitas network, which distinguishes each year that European city that its sustainable mobility has improved the most and that it has implemented measures of great positive impact for urban mobility, including the promotion of bicycle lanes in the center of the city.

On the other hand, Navarro invites Cs to "reflect on their contribution to public awareness and awareness about sustainability and the fight against climate change because being in the opposition does not exempt them from responsibility nor does it oblige them to limit themselves only to censure , without proposing or suggesting.
