'Murcia en cifras' gathers the key data of the municipality (05/08/2018)

"We offer all citizens the knowledge and information necessary for them to develop, achieve equal opportunities in access to information and open new opportunities for the future and growth for Murcia," said José Guillén.

The growth trend continues, at a higher rate than in the rest of Spain.

This information can be consulted in 'Murcia en cifras', a portal of information and data about the municipality, open to all citizens.

This portal is the most powerful observatory of neighborhoods and districts in Spain, has available to all residents more than 70,000 data that previously only managed the administration and are now of public use.

In this way, it offers a current state of the municipality with permanently updated information that provides an accurate and accurate diagnosis of the social, labor, economic and demographic reality of Murcia.

Through the statistical exploitation of data and the analysis of territorial indicators between districts and neighborhoods, we can know the evolution of the municipality, and analyze the different productive sectors and demographic factors, as well as assess the territorial balance of Murcia through numerous indicators, and their comparison with other municipalities in the Region and Spain.

The data collected, processed, interpreted and interconnected is materialized in three specific utilities available on the web, 'Locate your business idea', 'Equipment and services locator' and 'Cartographic viewer'.

In addition, this tool informs about the points to which physically go to start the business, such as the Center for Training and Employment Initiatives or the Center for Municipal Initiatives of Murcia (CIM-M), where interested parties can access a free business plan, advice, training, search for aids and guidance.

"We offer all citizens the knowledge and information necessary for them to develop, achieve equal opportunities in access to information and open new opportunities for the future and growth for Murcia," said José Guillén.

Data of all councils and Areas.

Statistics

According to data from the Municipal Population Register 2018 (in its provisional version, the definitive one will be closed in 2019), the municipality of Murcia has experienced an increase of 3,975 inhabitants in its population figure with respect to 2017, currently standing at 447,218 people.

By carrying out a more detailed analysis, we can observe how this growth has occurred both among the Spanish population and among those of foreign nationality.

Thus, the national population has increased by 0.60% while the foreign population, for its part, has seen the downward line followed in recent years slow down and has registered a significant increase of 3.31%.

Taking into account that the positive migratory balance with the foreigner of Murcia has explained 40% of the growth registered during this last year, the increase in the population figure has increased by two other ways: through the natural growth of the population ( greater number of births compared to deaths);

and through internal migratory movements.

As for the demographic structure, it should be noted that the number of people over 65 years of age has increased by 1,220 people, reaching 69,057 (15.44% of the total population).

The number of newborns (less than twelve months), on the other hand, also presents higher values than in 2017, as occurs with the whole population under 20 years of age.

This aggregate growth of 0.90% in the municipal population is above the data obtained at both the regional and national levels.

Thus, while in the Region of Murcia the population has grown by 7,673 people (more than half of them correspond to those of the municipality of Murcia) with respect to 2017, representing a growth of 0.52%, at a national level the Population figure has increased by 0.27%, registering a total of 126,437 more inhabitants.

With regard to the population variation registered at the inframunicipal level, it is worth noting that the city-districts gap continues to expand in favor of the latter as far as the population figure is concerned.

Thus, the districts of the municipality have seen their population increase by 3,720 people compared to the previous year, while the neighborhoods remain practically stagnant (seeing slowed down the significant drop experienced in recent years).

At present, 62.33% of the municipal population lives in the districts, while in 2005 that value was 56.16%.
