The Murcia City Council and the NGO COVIDE-AMVE have promoted a project to improve the quality of health services in the health center of Nacuxa, in Mozambique.
Its execution will directly benefit 14,663 people, of whom 8,264 women and 13,060 under 15 years of age, while indirectly the beneficiaries will be 40,000 inhabitants, almost half, women.
With a subsidy of 16,000 euros provided by the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, led by Conchita Ruiz, the plan consists of the construction of a pediatric block to pass consultations and perform growth control and specialized care for children in risk or with some degree of malnutrition.
This block contemplates the construction of an internment space for pregnant women waiting for delivery - "Mother's waiting house" - to give a solution to the situation these women live, marked by the distance they must travel when they go into labor, if they want to give birth in the health center with health personnel.
Likewise, the project envisaged the construction of corridors covered by external communication between all the blocks, to revalue the adherence to health services provided by health personnel and to stop the search for healers and sorcerers in search of a remedy for health problems.
On the other hand, the construction of a wall that closes the center and a guardhouse that will be equipped with a team of guards who will ensure the safety of the center complete the measures provided in the plan.
The objectives pursued preferably by this cooperative action is to facilitate access to the health services of the population of the administrative post of Matibane and improve the quality of health services that are provided in the Nacuxa health center.
