20 young Murcians learn to program Java thanks to an agreement of the City Council and Fundación Telefónica (28/07/2018)

The project serves as a bridge between these young people, between 18 and 35 years old, mostly with basic studies or media, and local businesses.

The labor incorporation of these courses is 88% of the students.

The projects presented by the participants are a web portal of job offers where selectors can publish their offers and candidates attach their CVs to the offers that interest them most, a manager to do audits through which companies can obtain reports of the security threats at a technological level and a web application for the rental and return of motorcycles.

Twenty young people from Murcia have been trained in the "Web development with Java" itinerary, within the framework of the "Connects employment" program promoted by Fundación Telefónica with the collaboration of the Murcia City Council, whose objective is to train participants in professional digital competitions .

The young people presented their projects yesterday, which will be developed by digital companies in the region.

These are young people between 18 and 35 years old, 70% of them with basic or secondary studies (ESO, Baccalaureate, Basic FP, Middle Grade Vocational Training) and 30% of university education, who hope to have a job opportunity .

The participants, selected after a logical-mathematical aptitude test and an interview, thus enter a very attractive professional field in the digital revolution.

In fact, the labor incorporation of the JAVA courses of "Conecta Empleo" is currently 88% of the students.

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, underlined the 'excellent results of collaboration between public administrations and companies, since by joining capacities and adding efforts, the assistants not only obtain theoretical training, but also establish relations Murcia companies that demand employees with this type of knowledge. "In addition, Pacheco stressed that this agreement 'has an added value, which corresponds to initiatives that have the purpose of boosting youth employment'.

After five months of training, from February to July, at the Local Development Agency of the City of Murcia, and as a culmination to the training itinerary "Web development with Java", students presented their projects in a professional meeting with local companies in the field Digital -AlanciS, SumamoOs and Tech-Consulting-.

The students will also have support for their labor insertion in a personalized way during the next four months.

Specifically, the projects they present are: "SELECT-CV", with the support of AlanciS, a web portal of job offers where selectors can publish their offers and candidates attach their CVs to the offers that interest them most.

"TAMARITHZ", together with Tech-Consulting, is a manager to perform audits through which companies can obtain reports of security threats at a technological level.

And "JAVA_HC", with the help of SumamoOs, consisting of the development of a web application for the rental and return of motorcycles.

During the itinerary, students have been acquiring knowledge and skills that have allowed them to develop cross-platform web applications, using one of the programming languages with more demand within the ICT sector: Java.

In fact, nowadays programming in this language is becoming an added value for any programmer.

How to participate in "Conecta empleo"

To participate in "Conecta empleo", those interested must be in a job search situation or want to reinvent themselves and do not need to have previous technological knowledge, since in these courses they acquire the training to be one of the digital professionals that companies seek.

This is reflected in the most recent forecasts of the sector: of the vacancies published in the last year in the ICT sector, more than half were directed to programmers and specialists in different digital developments.

"Conecta empleo" by Fundación Telefónica

Fundación Telefónica has been committed for years to give professional opportunities to society so that it is better prepared to face its future, connecting it with the new reality of the labor market: the so-called "new employability", the new professions of the technology sector they are defining in the present and that they will have more demand in the future.

Among them, experts in cybersecurity, big data, video game developers, mobile apps, websites ...

Thus, "Conecta empleo" is the training program in digital competencies and entrepreneurs of Fundación Telefónica that represents a great opportunity for established alliances with companies and organizations that seek this type of profiles increasingly demanded.

With this program, the Foundation seeks to increase employment opportunities for people both in Europe and in Latin America who are unemployed or who wish to reinvent themselves.
