The campaign 'No Pollution By Plastics' manages to gather about 6000 bottles and 9000 disposable bags in the UMU (23/07/2018)

The University of Murcia has participated in the global campaign 'No Pollution by Plastics', which started on June 5 on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The Sustainable Campus management system has collected more than six thousand bottles and nine thousand plastic bags thanks to university participation.

The 'No Pollution By Plastics' initiative, led by the United Nations, aims to raise awareness about the importance of the use of single-use plastic and the environmental problem generated by the waste associated with this consumption model.

UN Environment invited public administrations, companies, non-governmental organizations and individuals to propose activities that would contribute to the worldwide movement to combat plastic pollution.

The University of Murcia, through Sustainable Campus, has spread among the university community a campaign consisting of changing bottles and single-use plastic bags for reusable bottles and bags, with the aim of raising awareness about this environmental problem and encouraging habits of responsible consumption with the environment among the university community.

During the month of July, students and university staff exchanged 10 plastic bottles for one of reusable aluminum and 20 plastic bags for one of cloth.

According to the data collected, the campaign has managed to deliver more than 600 aluminum bottles and about 450 bags of cloth.
