Bankia and Fundación Cajamurcia have signed an agreement with the 'Chair of Family Business Mare Nostrum University of Murcia-Polytechnic University of Cartagena' and the Murcian Association of Family Business (AMEFMUR) to collaborate with the activities carried out in favor of this sector business through said Chair.
The agreement, which includes an annual financial contribution of 18,000 euros, aims to promote the exchange of information and knowledge in the field of the Chair, the development of joint activities of study, research, training and the organization of meeting spaces between academics, businessmen and students.
The rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján;
the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Alejandro Díaz;
the president of AMEFMUR, José María Tortosa, and the director of the Institute of Family Business (IEF), Juan Corona, have signed the collaboration agreement with the president of Fundación Cajamurcia, Carlos Egea;
the corporate director of the Bankia Territorial in Murcia and Alicante, Olga García;
and the Business Director of Bankia in Levante, José Manuel García Trany.
The Cajamurcia Foundation has been supporting the Chair since it was created in 2006, as well as collaborating with the Murcian Family Business Association for more than 15 years.
For its part, Bankia reinforces with this initiative the will to maintain its collaboration with the Universities of Murcia and the Polytechnic of Cartagena, thus maintaining its commitment to the Region of Murcia and family businesses.
In 2006, the Chair of Family Business of the University of Murcia was created, which in 2013 became the first interuniversity in the Region thanks to the incorporation of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, henceforth being called the Mare Family Business Chair. Nostrum University of Murcia - Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
In addition to these two educational institutions, it is integrated by the Cajamurcia Foundation, the Murcian Association of Family Business and the Family Business Institute, and is included in the Campus of International Excellence Mare Nostrum.
A business sector with great weight in the Region
The interuniversity character of the Chair directed by Ángel Meroño facilitates the realization of joint training and research initiatives for students and companies in the Region of Murcia.
Since its creation, the Chair has aimed at the analysis, research and teaching of the reality and perspectives of the family business, taking care to develop training programs and research activities that contribute to improving the knowledge of this important business sector, which represents 92% of the business fabric of the Region, the second highest percentage by autonomous communities in the country.
In addition, regional family businesses generate 85% of private employment.
The ultimate purpose of the Chair is to know the particularities of family businesses to identify their needs and help them exploit their unique characteristics.
To this end, it develops initiatives such as the Barometer of the family business, a biannual report on the contribution of this sector in the creation of wealth and employment, training courses for university students and quarterly business meetings that bring together entrepreneurs, academics and experts in the field .
