José Ballesta: "The common good of all Murcia is above personalities and partisan interests" "We, both now and in the past, have been more in the effort of the agreement than in the comfort of disagreement", stressed the mayor aft (17/07/2018)

José Ballesta said today that in the agreement for the approval of the 2018 Budget of the City of Murcia that has been signed today, "the general interest has prevailed more than the individual, the common good, the welfare of all the residents of Murcia, who the partisan or electoral interest.

That has been now and in the past our attitude and our position.

In it we have been and in it we are going to maintain ".

"There have been many days and weeks of conversations, exchange of documents and work.

We, from the day we arrived at this City Council, have been more in the effort of the agreement than in the comfort of the disagreement.

The height of view requires us not to think about the next elections but about the next generations ".

"I think an effort has been made to escape from sterile protagonisms, useless personalisms and obsolete vanities.

Both now and in the past, we have understood the political activity and the public service that we develop as an exercise of moderation, education and respect for people.

In these moments, the society in general - and we must have a lot of fault those of us who dedicate ourselves to this activity - shows an infinite fatigue of politics understood as the permanent confrontation.

Democracy demands the right of recognition of the other, the reality of others, and for this reason I believe that in this agreement has prevailed broadmindedness.

José Ballesta made these statements after signing the agreement for the approval of the 2018 Budget, together with the spokesman of the Municipal Citizens Group, Mario Gómez, in an act in which they were accompanied by the councilors of the municipal group and members of the regional board of Citizens, as well as by the councilors of the Government team, and the person in charge of the negotiations, the Councilor for Finance, Contracting and Urban Mobility, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, whom he praised "work and commitment, moderation, good sense , the technical rigor and the concretion ".

José Ballesta detailed the 34 points included in the document that affect 11 parcels or areas of municipal activity and highlighted three features of the agreement reached: "Firstly, the extension of the agreement, since it encompasses practically all the plots of the municipal activity, secondly, the depth because it includes economic and budgetary aspects, but it goes much further and also affects other plots that focus on improving the quality of life of the residents of Murcia, speeding up the operation of this institution and simplify the management of it.

In third place, the transparency of the agreement, since since it was reached in the early hours of Friday to Saturday, it appeared a few hours later to officially announce it. "
