Researchers from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the UMU have been awarded at the national congress that annually organizes the Scientific Association of Economics and Business Management (ACEDE).
The twentieth Congress, which has celebrated its twenty-eighth edition, took place last June in Valladolid.
Within the section of Family Business, the work 'Socioemotional wealth and dividend policy in private family firms', by J. Samuel Baixauli Soler, María Belda Ruiz and Gregorio Sanchez Marín, has been awarded.
This study argues that the affective endowments of the family business are a key factor that determines its dividend policy.
With the term 'socio-emotional wealth' refers to non-economic aspects that meet the various emotional needs of the family owner, for example, the desire to maintain control of the business and to extend it to future generations, social ties, reputation or the well-being of the family.
On the other hand, the work 'Trade credit, creditor protection and financial crisis', by Sonia Baños Caballero, Pedro J. García Teruel and Pedro Martínez Solano has been awarded in the Financial Economics section.
The objective of this project has been to analyze whether the protection of creditors and financial crises affect the commercial credit granted to customers.
Using a sample of 34 countries, it is observed that in those countries with less creditor protection, clients pay, in general, later, and that this difference is accentuated in times of crisis.
The Scientific Association of Economics and Business Management (ACEDE) is an association of university professors created in 1990 and, since then, has established itself as a meeting place for academics concerned about promoting rigorous research and teaching in the field of the administration of companies and their constituent areas, such as Financial Economics and Accounting, Marketing and Market Research and Organization of Companies.
