Change Murcia requests the Rector of the University of Murcia to open an investigation regarding the operation and hiring of the Junior Companies (13/07/2018)

The councilor Margarita Guerrero has sent today a letter to the Rector of the UMU, José Luján Alcaraz, where he formally asks to start an investigation to clarify the situation of the Junior Companies and the employment relationship of the people who provide services through them.

13.07.2018 Last Tuesday, July 10, the councilor of Cambiemos Murcia Margarita Guerrero and the member of the Coordinator John David Babyack denounced through a press conference the presumed favorable treatment that the Junior Company JUDOC, chaired by the current Pedáneo de Los Garres (PP), is receiving from the Ballesta Government Team.

Since the beginning of the legislature, JUDOC has billed the City of Murcia over € 65,000 for concepts such as "digitization of documents," "creation of social networks," "poster printing," "campaigns against gender violence" and " hostess service ", among others.

Labor inspection and false self-employed workers.

The mayor of the municipal training recalled that "as of May 2016, the Labor Inspectorate opened an investigation in the company Ticarum, linked and participated by the University of Murcia, on the functions and employment contracts of some employees."

As a result of this fact, Guerrero recalls that the team of Rector José Orihuela carried out a process of regularization of the personnel that provided their services through some entities such as Ticarum and the Junior Companies.

In this sense, the vice-rector Carmen Lopez admitted "legal-labor irregularities" with hundreds of students who served the UMU without being discharged.

As an example of this, he quoted Junior Empresa, an entity founded in 1998 as a university association with the objective of doing internships at the Faculty of Business, but which did work for the institution, as the media gathered in October 2017.

These irregularities with students and self-employed workers, who performed tasks of officials of the University, they supposed to the coffers of the institution the disbursement of 500,000 euros to the Social Security.

Therefore, Guerrero has sent a letter to Rector Luján to continue with the work started by the previous rector's team and initiate an investigation regarding the situation of the Junior Companies existing at this time, in order to ensure that all comply with the existing regulations in all the areas that protect them, especially regarding labor.

"Since we changed Murcia, we consider it fundamental, in the interest of transparency and the prestige of an institution such as the University of Murcia, to guarantee that these entities that are under the protection of the UMU Faculties comply strictly with the obligations set forth in the legal system. current "concluded Guerrero.
