The Councilor for Finance, Contracting and Urban Mobility, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, has intervened in the Social Council of the City held this morning within the program of the Third Day of Participation, exposing the productive model of the City Strategy 'Murcia 2020' .

This productive model revolves around three fundamental axes: the creation of employment, economic promotion and promotion of the entrepreneurial spirit;

the boost of tourism and the reduction of taxes.

The councilor has stated that "one of the policies with the greatest importance and that is benefiting the citizens the most is the significant tax reduction we have been doing since the last years".

Thus, he recalled that this year have frozen all taxes, fees and public prices, which together with the policy of reducing tax rates in previous years "makes us say that in 2018 Murcia will pay less taxes than in the year 2013, "the councilor explained.

The main changes introduced in recent years have been the increase in the level of income so that more people can receive the zero rate of garbage, the elimination of the fee for the processing of administrative files of change of ownership in the municipal license of activities, the reduction of 50% of the rate when one of the members of a couple marries in the Town Hall or registers in the registry of civil unions, the derogation of the fee for sanitary services, the elimination of the payment of the fee for the installation on public roads of bar bars in the parties of districts, and the bonus of the IBI to the owners of urban lots that maintain their crops, at least three years.

Likewise, a 20% reduction in the price of children's schools will be applied, which will benefit 600 families, a 50% discount on the public price of summer pools for the unemployed will be made, while the minors will be exempt from payment when one of their parents are unemployed, co-payments in social services are suppressed (home help, telecare and family respite and fees are reduced for most of the parish fords.

The councilor also stressed that "the average payment period of the City Council over the last year has been established around 20 days, being well away from the average of Spanish municipalities that are around 70 days" .

The councilor stressed that "we are promoting different initiatives all with the sole objective of promoting the insertion in the labor market of Murcia."

Sustainable and innovative tourism

Another milestone in the productive model is the Tourism Development Operational Plan of the Municipality of Murcia 2017 2020, "a tool to advance an intelligent tourism model involving all the agents involved in the tourism sector and where sustainable tourism is sought , innovative and based on new technologies as a factor of added value ".

The concrete actions to promote tourism in Murcia are the following:

- Recovery of the medieval heritage of Murcia, with important projects such as the extension of the interpretation center of the Wall of Santa Eulalia or the itinerary of the Muslim wall

- Valorization of the garden and the surroundings of the river Segura 'Murcia Río'.

- Consolidation of business tourism and dynamism of shopping tourism.

- Opening of a new space destined to favor and promote entrepreneurship in the local commerce sector in Plaza Circular Entrepreneurial Commercial Area.

Martínez-Oliva recalled that "the year 2017 closed with figures of 456,871 passengers received and 752,262 registered overnight stays, comfortably exceeding the 2016 figure in both cases, and ranking as the highest values recorded since this statistics is prepared. of the travelers received, these increased by 7.2% with respect to the previous year, while overnight stays were 9.50% above ".
