The Social Work Unit of the City last year attended more than 32,000 families (12/07/2018)

The Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, has been commissioned to present the analysis of the social model in the City's Social Council, framed in the 3rd Meeting of Neighborhood Participation of the City Council, and which has made a follow-up of the City Strategy 'Murcia 2020'.

Ruiz stressed that "to ensure progress and the harmonious and sustainable growth of a city is so important economic or urban development as an appropriate approach to social policies that promote social cohesion and solidarity with those who have greater difficulties."

The councilor has listed the various actions implemented by the City Council as "the consolidation, creation or next constitution of different organs of social participation, such as the Network for social inclusion, the Children's Participation Table, the disability table, the Gender Equality and Violence Commission, the Immigration Council, the Technical Commission for Children or the Social Council for the elderly that are making a decisive contribution to the debate and preparation of important strategic agreements for social intervention and in the preparation of works and documents great importance for our municipality, such as the II Plan of Equality between men and women, the Plan against energy and water poverty, the Social Volunteer Program, or future universal accessibility plans, for Children or the local strategy for people without roof, without forgetting the Plans or Programs of action in specially depressed areas

of the municipality, such as Cabezo de Torres, La Paz or the Los Rosales neighborhood ".

In addition, Ruiz stressed that "this effort is being accompanied by a significant improvement in the primary care system, which in the case of Murcia has a special relevance due to its large territorial and population dispersion. an improvement plan has been put in place that has allowed us to expand the number of Social Work Units from 31 to 40, which allows a greater physical proximity of the professionals to the people who last year served more than 32,000 families, and to define a work model based on the territory and on the creation of territorial networks that are more effective in social intervention ".
