José Ballesta presents to the neighbors the battery of projects that will benefit both neighborhoods, starting in September.
A total of 3,620 proposals have been collected.
The actions in the Artillery Barracks include, in addition to the works in Pavilions 1 and 2, the creation of a viewpoint and the improvement of the relationship between the different spaces.
In the Carmen will also be renovated five large gardens, pedestrianized Market Square Food and an International Market of Culture and Gastronomy will be held.
All the gardens of the La Paz neighborhood will be renewed in an integral way and green and friendly itineraries will be created, with new lighting.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the councilors of his government team presented this afternoon to the residents and social groups of the neighborhoods of Carmen and La Paz the conclusions of the Participation Phase of the ADN-Urbano projects, within the Participation Days 2018, and detailed the battery of improvement actions and projects that will benefit both neighborhoods, through an investment of 4 million euros.
The act was attended by numerous neighbors, the mayors of both districts, heads of service and municipal employees who have coordinated the different worktables, as well as the specialized work team of the University of Murcia.
Starting today and throughout the next months, these two environments, in which some 25,000 Murcians live (20,000 in El Carmen and almost 5,000 in La Paz), will witness an "urban revolution" in a total area of ​​action covering 75,000 m2.
The diagnosis of the current situation of both neighborhoods has been made through two participation processes in which more than 80 groups and entities have been involved, accounting for 3,000 contributions made by residents of the Carmen neighborhood and a total of 620 per part of those of La Paz.
Through the different Work Tables, large urban renewal projects have been collected, analyzed and selected, as well as social, commercial, employment and cultural activities, which will be carried out at the proposal of the neighbors.
Carmen
A performance will be carried out on the whole of the Artillery Barracks to improve the coordination and relationship between the different spaces and their approach towards the Carmen neighborhood.
In addition to the works in Pavilions 1 and 2 that will begin in September, it is planned to tender the creation of a viewpoint in the water tank of the Artillery Barracks.
Through ADN Urbano, the following gardens will be reformed: Painter Pedro Flores, Painter José María Párraga, Mariano Ballester and the Science Park.
The works of an Urban Park will be executed and the pedestrianization of the food market square will also be carried out.
Another project that will be launched in El Carmen is the creation of a social table to turn multiculturalism into a growth opportunity for the neighborhood.
An international market will be held, with cultural events, crafts and gastronomy that will serve as an economic and employment promotion and, at the same time, encourage coexistence among the neighbors.
Peace
The accesses of La Paz will be opened through the creation of green and friendly itineraries that will improve access to the neighborhood and eliminate existing barriers.
The four squares that make up the neighborhood of La Paz, neuralgic points of meeting and leisure of the neighbors, will be reformed in depth.
Thus, the pergola of the Rio Tajo Street, the Mula River, Rio Mundo and Ebro River will benefit from these integral improvement works.
An integral cleanup will be carried out throughout the neighborhood, and both La Paz and El Carmen will improve the lighting of numerous public spaces, as well as accessibility in different streets and squares.
Promotion of employment in both neighborhoods
The City will start a training and employment program for both neighborhoods amounting to 440,000 euros.
The objective is that the neighbors have the opportunity to expand their training, through the completion of work within the Urban DNA Agitation Phase.
After the completion of the Participation Phase with the presentation of the conclusions that have been presented today, the Activation Phase begins, in which the selected projects will be technically defined.
Some of the projects will begin to run at the end of the summer and others will begin during the first quarter of 2019, within the Agitation Phase.
With the Projection Phase, the project will conclude and all the actions will be monitored.
