Change Murcia proposes to plant new specimens in the Palm Grove of Santiago and Zaraiche (10/07/2018)

Juan Carlos Alcolea, vocal of Cambiemos Murcia in Santiago and Zaraiche, has proposed today that new palms be planted in the palm grove of the district and that those who sprout naturally every year at these dates be allowed to grow, so that there may be a natural regeneration of the park, since many specimens suffer the consequences of years of abandonment and fire.

As explained by the vowel, which led the Municipal Board the proposal to convert this emblematic space in a botanical garden through new technologies, a sixth of the park remains cordoned off because recently fell a palm tree, while another is dangerously inclined.

Alcolea has said that the intervention of the City Council to make the place visitable left the roots "in the air", which joins the practice of some people who climb the palm trees to become "selfies", so "a better care, more vigilance and even that the park closes at night, as it happens with the Floridablanca garden.

For municipal training is a success that the Municipal Board has been able to launch a project that brings the history and botanical values of the Palm Grove through the use of mobile phones, through QR codes and routes and maps of google maps.

Therefore, "now that we have all recovered this space respecting its essence, it is more important than ever to provide it with all possible conservation measures".
