The PSOE denounces "the ineptitude of the PP, unable to resolve the debt of 8 payroll to home help workers" The spokesperson, Susana Hernandez, warns that the "calvary" of these employees exploded in 2014, when they begin to mobil (09/07/2018)

In addition, he states that "the mayor of Murcia can not go on vacation so quiet knowing that this group needs the money owed to pay for their basic needs"

The Municipal Socialist Group denounces "the ineptitude of the PP, unable to resolve the outstanding debt of eight payrolls (the first two years ago) to home help workers".

Therefore, the socialist spokesperson, Susana Hernandez, asks "how much time has to pass for this municipal government to assume its responsibility and seek the solution to the payment of these salaries?".

Hernandez recalls that Home Help workers have outstanding payroll owed by the previous company, to which "the councilor responsible for Social Services at that time, Maruja Pelegrin, insisted on extending the contract when he had already given clear signs of little solvency and incompetence, "and adds that," as I have said on other occasions, it seems that the commitment of the PP is with the company, putting their interests before the welfare of employees and users of the service. "

In this regard, he points out that "to top it off, the previous home help company, was very spoiled by the City Council, since they were paid biweekly bills, a privilege that is not available to most dealers. We have never understood that special treatment to a company that has had the impudence to make payments of 50 euros to some workers for the debt contracted. "

"We are talking about payrolls of 800 euros, perhaps for the mayor and his councilors are not much, but for these workers is vital because it allows them to pay their basic needs." Many have had to do bobbin to survive without charge Because of the work, but there are also workers who have lost their homes and who have had to go to relatives and even to Caritas, and all of this without stopping working so as not to lose their position. "

In addition, the spokesperson has pointed out that they had to enable emergency assistance from Social Services to alleviate the situation so pressing that they were living.

For all this, Hernandez asks "what is a government that allows a debt of such importance to workers who need the money to eat, not to travel, but to cover their basic needs, theirs and their families" and declares that "the mayor of Murcia can not go on vacation so quiet knowing that this group needs the money owed to live."

The eight payrolls, which are owed today, go back to 2016, although they have been years with multiple payment delays.

In fact, the "calvary" of these workers exploded in 2014, when they began to mobilize because of problems with payroll.

They went on strike in 2015, one even went on hunger strike and then was fired.

Later, the employees also protested against the extension to the company that the PP finally granted, so Hernandez criticizes the mayor and the councilor responsible, because "if they had heard the workers and also the Socialist Group, which is supporting from the beginning, we would not have reached this point, we even consider that this extension, carried out when Pelegrin was in office and with serious doubts to continue in the municipal government, did not comply, at least, with ethical requirements "
