The City Council puts a solution to the floods in the Rambla de Avileses (09/07/2018)

José Ballesta visits the canalization works that are being executed at the junction with the road that goes from Avileses to Sucina, a section that was frequently flooded by heavy rains.

The action will end at the beginning of August and consists of the installation of five large concrete pipes and the rise of the grade of the road, guaranteeing the transit of vehicles in conditions of total safety.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with members of his government team, this afternoon visits the canalization works that the City Council is undertaking in the Rambla de Avileses known as Borambla, at the junction with the road from Avileses to Sucina .

Later, a participatory meeting will be held in which the neighbors will take the floor to express their proposals and ideas for improvement.

It is a point that is frequently flooded when heavy rains fall, forcing the road to be cut and leaving the hamlet of Jerónimo and Avileses isolated on the side of Sucina.

"The canalization works that are being executed, and which will be completed within a month, will definitively solve this problem, responding to the request of the more than 1,100 residents of this hamlet of the Campo de Murcia," said José Ballesta.

The action, which affects a section of 500 meters, consists of the installation of five large reinforced concrete pipes 80 centimeters in diameter that will allow rainwater to be channeled, as well as the rise of the grade of the road, which will remain on top of the hydraulic work, guaranteeing the transit of vehicles in conditions of total safety.

In addition to the channeling, the City of Murcia, through the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, will execute the asphalting of the new section of the road, will build new perimeter sidewalks with trees and install guardrails.

The total investment of this work that began a month and a half ago is 80,000 euros and, although its execution period is four months, the time has been shortened for the works to end earlier this month of August, with the aim of avoiding new floods in the face of possible episodes of cold drop.

In the same rambla, the City Council channeled three other sections last May, at the height of Gea and Truyols, to solve the same problem.

Also, the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services is working on new projects that will be undertaken in other ravines of the Campo de Murcia.
