The Contraparada will premiere Interpretation Center next spring (06/07/2018)

The Governing Board has given its approval to the award of the works of the Visitor Center of the Counterpart in Javalí Viejo, thanks to which, according to forecasts, this natural enclave will have these facilities next spring.

This center will facilitate a first contact with both the environment itself and the whole of the Murcian orchard and its river, encouraging the visitor to understand, know and conserve it, revealing the meaning of natural, cultural, historical, scenic and ethnographic aspects more of the huerta of Murcia, and fostering an attitude of citizen participation and respect towards these values.

Likewise, the new Visitor Center will constitute the indispensable point of reference for an area, such as La Contraparada, which increasingly has greater public use and number of visitors.

The Center will have an explanatory space, distributed in two floors, in which will be installed a complete equipment of interpretative supports based on modules and three-dimensional exhibitions that combine volumes with text, graphic media and technological media and incorporate a varied range of visual proposals, of audio and interactive.

The ground floor will be used as a reception area for visitors where they can find out about all the aspects of the center, pick up a multimedia guide or download QR programs for mobile devices that help them complete the contents of the visit.

The main resource of this ground floor will consist of an audiovisual room that will exhibit one of the main attractions with which the Center is endowed: the audiovisual 'The river that gives life'.

This audiovisual will suppose a powerful interpretative introduction of all the aspects treated in the Center on the garden and the river and will be realized with 2D and 3D animations, use of drones for aerial images, use of actors and varied infographic effects.

A river to be traced

The ground floor will also have a large multipurpose room, which will be a dynamic space for use as a meeting room and multifunctional space suitable for conducting workshops and seminars, screenings, presentations, temporary exhibitions, talks, etc.

Access to the upper floor will be made through stairs that, with the use of various visual resources of lighting and screens, has become "a river to be traced" to continue the visit.

The upper floor has been designed as a large space with a unitary and pleasant atmosphere in which the contents will be displayed in four major thematic areas.

The first area reflects the origin, history and evolution of the Segura river, the huerta and the Contraparada, a second area on crops and uses in the huerta of Murcia, focusing on traditional agrarian techniques, local varieties, biodiversity in the crops, the use of auxiliary and ornamental plants, the main products of the garden of Murcia and the local gastronomy.

A third axis dedicated to identity and culture Huertana, and a last one destined to the interpretation of the main ecological and environmental values ​​of La Contraparada and the Segura River.

The project is part of the actions of the Plan of Action of the Huerta developed by the City of Murcia and the works will be executed by Patrimonio Inteligente SL at a cost of 341,204 euros, and a deadline of 9 months.
