The bike lanes in the center of the city will be under construction in July and August (03/07/2018)

The Observatory of the Bicycle has approached today the plan of execution of the projects that will unite of the Circular Place to the FICA - with connections to Juan Carlos I, Juan de Borbón and Abenarabi and of the Manterola Pasarela until Circular Place and from Díez de Revenge to the Avenue of the Pines.

It has also been reported three new lanes with more than 6,600 meters in length that extend around the river and the neighborhood of El Carmen.

The goal of creating a grid of bike lanes that allows the circulation of bicycles in a safe and comfortable way through the center of the city continues to advance.

This afternoon, the councilor for Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Garden, Antonio Navarro, has presented the Municipal Bicycle Observatory the works plan of the two lanes that are currently in execution, as well as the projects of three others , that add a length of 6.636 meters.

On the 20th, work began on the execution of the sections from the Plaza Circular to FICA -with connections to Juan Carlos I, Juan de Borbón and Abenarabi- and from Manterola Pasarela to Plaza Circular and from Díez de Revenga to Avenida de los Pine trees.

Both projects, whose execution period is 6 and 5 months, respectively, will receive a strong boost in July and August to take advantage of the lower activity of these months and reduce as much as possible the inconvenience.

Thus, the first of them will centralize the works in the environment between Plaza Circular and Juan XXIII and in the displacement of the roundabout of Primero de Mayo with Pablo VI.

7.2 kilometers underway

For its part, the project for the execution of the bike lane from Pasarela Manterola to Plaza Circular and from Plaza Díez de Revenga to Avenida de los Pinos, with a total length of 3,894m, has been divided into ten different axes.

The plan of works foresees to intervene in July and September between the Avenue of Los Pinos and the Plaza Diez de Revenga, the change of direction of Riquelme Street, the surroundings of the streets Plane of San Francisco, San Nicolás, San Pedro, Arco de Veronicas, Santa Teresa and Baritone Marcos Redondo, the service roads north and south of Primo de Rivera, west ring of the Plaza Circular.

In September it is expected to act in the connection of Riquelme Street with San Pedro and San Francisco's Plaza del Plano through the Plaza de San Julián and Plano Street in San Francisco and Avda. Primo de Rivera with Avda. Freedom.

New projects

In addition to the work plan of these lanes, which add up to a length of 7,272 meters and an investment of 842,727 euros, the Observatory of the Bicycle has presented three new projects that run along the Floridablanca Avenue, Alameda de Colón, Princesa Street, Puente New and connections, with a length of 2,140 m totally segregated, a budget of € 576,000 and a term of 6 months of works.

The second will advance through Jorge Palacios Avenue, Paseo de Garay, Paseo Teniente Flomesta, San Francisco Plane and connections with the sections of FICA, Manterola, Ronda de Garay, Red Cross, Gran Vía, Arocas and Manterola, with 1,538 meters segregated and 233 meters shared.

The budget amounts to 1 million euros and the execution period of 6 months.

The third planned urban lane will have an itinerary through Plano de San Francisco, Huerto Pomares street, La Olma street and connections with Calle Arocas, Santa Teresa and Callejón Burruezo.

Its expected execution period is 8 months.
