The SEMAS intensifies the attention at noon and in the afternoon to the homeless people facing the heat alert (03/07/2018)

The team of the Mobile Emergency Service Social Care (SEMAS), dependent on the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, directed by Conchita Ruiz, intensifies care for people at risk of social exclusion, in order to alleviate the consequences physical exposure to heat.

The device put in place provides these people, who can also present diseases-physical or mental-water, food, clothing, transportation, emergency accommodation and transfer or accompaniment to Jesus Abandoned and RAIS.

'On dates when the temperature is extreme, either by heat or cold, we reinforce the work that SEMAS usually emphasizes with special campaigns,' explained Conchita Ruiz.

This service is developed by establishing personal contact, studying their situation, and generating a link that facilitates the process of intervention and social inclusion of these people who live in a situation of exclusion.

The SEMAS carries out a special follow-up around midday and in the afternoon, to avoid the effects that prolonged exposure to high temperatures can have on health.

They carry out their work in teams of two people, made up of a social worker and a local police officer, attending to the most at risk citizens, who are provided with relevant hydration means, while they are informed about the strategies that can be applied. Adopt to reduce the impact of heat on your body.

They are also informed about the different municipal social resources at their disposal.
