The PSOE allows progress to be made against child poverty, equality of sex, environment and logistics with the creation of a purchasing center (28/06/2018)

Murcia will be a municipality free of sexist publicity, in which the use of plastic will be reduced and where it will not be allowed to park unsafely in the ramblas.

Murcia will also be a municipality that will fight against child poverty, in which the healthy ways will be conditioned for the practice of sport, which will protect the Huerta more with a specific plan for this environment and that will have a central purchasing for material of the Police Local and other workers of the Administration.

The City Council, in addition, will ask the UCAM to comply with its agreement with the Consistory.

And all this thanks to the motions that the Municipal Socialist Group has presented to the Plenary today.

The PSOE has raised 10 motions for its debate and agreement and three of them, related to minors, have been defended by its spokesperson, Susana Hernández.

One has been to act against child poverty in the municipality, "an inhuman scourge that must be eradicated," according to Hernandez, who recalled that "40% of children are at risk of poverty or social exclusion and we must protect them."

This proposal has gone ahead with the abstention of Now Murcia and Murcia Change.

The next of these motions, which has given way to an alternative, was to modify the requirements imposed by the Autonomous Community so that more families with children of school age have the right to receive scholarships for books and material that will be used in their schools the next course.

"These are abusive, restrictive and unacceptable requirements, since only families who are in extreme poverty can apply for assistance," said Hernández, adding that "the City Council, by increasing the special fund for the most needy, should assume the aid that the Autonomous Community does not grant ".

The motion has resulted in an alternative that has been approved by the PP and Citizens and the rejection of the rest of the political groups with municipal representation.

The third proposal defended by the spokesperson of the PSOE, resolved with unanimous approval, has been to urge the Community to solve the conflict generated in the school Our Lady of Bethlehem, where the regional government "has led to parents having students confronted by the lack of planning when it comes to expanding the number of places in the center ".

Two initiatives have been raised by the socialist councilor Begoña García Retegui before the Corporation.

The City Council has unanimously agreed that Murcia is a municipality free of sexist advertising and will take the appropriate steps to remove these ads that continue to be seen in fences and walls and that "hinder real equality."

On the other hand, the socialist mayor has taken forward, with the vote against Cambiemos Murcia and the abstention of Ahora Murcia, a proposal to "prevent unsafe parking in the ramblas of the municipality."

Likewise, two motions have raised both Enrique Ayuso and Juan Vicente Larrosa to the Plenary.

Ayuso has seen the initiative unanimously approved to reduce the use of plastic in municipal facilities and activities promoted by the Consistory and to conduct information campaigns and awareness of the environmental problems of their consumption.

"Faced with this problem, every day more serious, we must apply the maxim that we have to think globally and act locally and from the City Council we can do more," he assured.

In addition, also with the support of the entire Corporation, it has been decided to draft a Territorial Planning Plan for the Huerta de Murcia to "value the historical, cultural, landscape, environmental and agrarian heritage of a natural space in which it has been lost more than 46% of the agricultural area in the last 20 years ", according to Ayuso.

The proposal of Larrosa claiming that healthy ways in which to practice sport have been obtained the approval of the Plenary with the abstention of the PP.

"In the municipality there are many roads and trails in the Huerta that must be used," he said.

Murcia, despite the abstention of the PP, will have a central purchasing to, for example, acquire the material needed by the Local Police, "whose vehicles are in the workshop to the damaged," said Larrosa, who recalled that "from 2010 there is no maintenance contract to undertake these and other repairs. "

The City Council has also approved the motion defended by Sebastián Peñaranda to review the agreement that was signed at the time with the UCAM.

"In exchange for the lands ceded in Guadeloupe, facilities were going to be built for the residents of the area and the agreement is not being complied with and therefore the Governing Board should create an urgent commission to evaluate the degree of compliance with that agreement. initiate legal actions if necessary to safeguard the legitimate interests of the City Council, "recalled the councilor of the PSOE.
