Carrillo: "The closure of the Bacons Bridge Health Center in the afternoon hours leaves more than 3,200 people without service all summer" (28/06/2018)

The mayor of Puente Tocinos, Enrique Carrillo, considers it a nonsense to close the Tocinos Bridge Health Center in the afternoon hours during the months of July, August and the first fifteen days of September.

It is a measure that, in his opinion, seriously harms users of public health in the municipality since they can only be treated in emergency services.

Carrillo has reported that there are currently two doctors who provide afternoon service, with a quota of 1,600 patients each, so that 3,200 people can not be attended to any eventuality in the Health Center throughout the summer.

These physicians attend an average of 80 people per evening, to which are added another important number of patients who are assisted by two nurses dedicated to the realization of cures, vaccination, hypertension and diabetes control, periodic check-ups or home visits to the sick. bedridden, among others.

The mayor of Puente Tocinos pointed out that "there are many neighbors who complain about this situation, especially elderly people who need help to go to the doctor, or workers who can not be absent during working hours. two buses or spend their excasos income to travel by taxi to the emergency service of Infante D. Juan Manuel, which in addition to an outrage causes the collapse of both this service and the emergency door of the Hospital Reina Sofia.

In this sense, he recalled that in recent years the SMS has been closing the offices in afternoon hours throughout the year, both Murcia (The Fleet, Barrio del Carmen, Infante D. Juan Manuel), and districts (The Palmar, La Alberca, Espinardo, etc.), so that Tocinos Bridge serves not only the inhabitants of this town, but the entire municipality.

Enrique Carrillo is intolerable that the Regional Government, with the approval of the City of Murcia, put so many obstacles in access to public health, especially damaging people with fewer resources, which are those who stay in Murcia all summer.

In this regard, he recalled that according to the Survey of Living Conditions of the INE of 2017, 30.1 percent of families Murcia can not pay a week of vacation a year.

For this reason, it has demanded that the Murcia City Council avoid this discrimination, and urge the SMS to keep the Bacons Bridge Health Center open all summer in the afternoon hours.
