The municipal Plenary has unanimously approved all the political groups that the City of Murcia, as a member of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities, adhere to the Institutional Declaration on the occasion of the International LGTBI Pride Day "joining all the voices that claim for a future in equality of all people regardless of their sexual identity and / or gender and their sexual orientation ", according to the approved text.

Likewise, the Municipal Corporation with this Declaration reaffirms its "commitment to human rights and, consequently, to sexual diversity, as well as to the non-discrimination of people based on their sexual orientation and gender identity, recognizing the progress made in this framework. , while reiterating our firm determination to move forward in overcoming the barriers that still exist today. "

They have also recognized "the high degree of commitment assumed in the organization and provision of essential services and changes and innovations, new approaches and methodologies that we continue to incorporate to ensure excellence, availability and quality that citizens demand and requires."

It has also been noted "the need to invest in policies in favor of sexual diversity and non-discrimination of people because of their sexual orientation or gender identity through the development of programs and projects of attention, information, training, and awareness and awareness, that make our cities and towns safe spaces for sexual diversity in all its manifestations ".

The Declaration condemns "any type of aggression, including both physical and verbal violence, humiliation and contempt towards LGTBI people in our municipality and we are committed to continue working on the information and training of the Local Police"

Finally, the Municipal Corporation has claimed "the need to provide local entities with the competences in this matter as well as sufficient means and resources to, in collaboration with the Government and the Autonomous Community, ensure the proper implementation of all policies and necessary initiatives to guarantee the effective equality of people in all our neighborhoods and districts ".
