The spokesman of the municipal group Cambiemos Murcia, Nacho Tornel, has presented a motion to the Plenary Session of the City Council this month requesting the implementation of measures to consolidate and protect the house of Antonete Galvéz, in TorreagĂźera.
The initiative also proposes the drafting of a project for the reconstruction of housing and its use as a cultural space in memory of Antonete, one of the leading figures of federal republicanism of the last third of the nineteenth century, and the cantonal revolution in Murcia.
The house of Antonete Gálvez, which despite being protected in the PGOU for its high landscape and historical value, is in "a precarious state of conservation", with the roof of sunken tiles and much of its collapsed walls, was recently acquired by the City Council.
However, the Consistory "has not yet taken any steps to prevent its destruction."
For Tornel, an "urgent intervention" is needed to consolidate the walls and a provisional projection with the installation of a zinc roof, keeping the elements of interest and the existing debris for the reconstruction of the space.
"It is also essential to reinforce the perimeter fence to prevent acts of vandalism," added the mayor, who recalled that next June 29 will be 200 years since the birth of Galvéz, a figure that "the cultural promotion of southern districts the municipality deserves to take this step of conserving our history ".
An interpretation center
The rehabilitation of the house and its conversion into a center of interpretation linked to the Museum of the City was a proposal that the municipal formation already moved to the Plenary in the Plenary of July of 2016.
