The students of the Region recognize that this fear is related to different factors such as physical integrity, dependence, emotional blackmail or even not knowing how to overcome the loss of the couple.

Among the results obtained in the European project `Youth Life 'it is noted that 17% of young people in these places think that control is a sign of love and 49% of these European students acknowledge having an unhappy or unhealthy relationship.

In addition, in the case of young Murcians, it has been detected that 48% admit to having felt fear at some point in their relationship and 9% have been victims of psychological abuse.

Awareness

The project has contemplated the intervention in ESO and Bachiller classrooms of 585 young Europeans, after which the researchers highlight some positive results in the awareness of young people and the capacity to recognize forms of violence.

However, researchers insist on the need to train and educate young people early to raise awareness about the causes, consequences, problems and measures they can take to prevent violence in the courtship;

In spite of this slight improvement in perception and awareness, it is necessary to continue working in these groups because of the alarming nature of some of the data obtained.

The general director of Women and Equality in the Region of Murcia, Alicia Barquero, has conveyed to the hundreds of young people attending the need to raise awareness among future generations to reduce this type of violent actions between couples.

Short film contest

To raise awareness among young people about the consequences of violence between couples, the project has included a short film competition between participating schools.

Alicia Barquero and the Olympic medalist, David Cal, have been in charge of delivering the prizes to the winners.
