The University of Murcia organizes a Chemistry congress focused on the food and beverages sector (15/06/2018)

The University of Murcia co-organizes the ninth edition of the International Chemistry Congress of the ANQUE, which is held from Sunday 17 June at the Thalasia hotel in San Pedro del Pinatar and revolves around the theme of food and beverages.

For three days, the municipality will be the meeting point for more than a hundred students, researchers, professionals and companies from the different branches of science and engineering.

This congress will constitute a forum for debate and exchange of information between companies, administration and public institutions, research centers and universities, in which the latest scientific and technological advances applicable to the field of food and beverages will be presented.

The opening ceremony will be on June 17 at 20.30 with the Plenary Conference Advances in the minimum processing hortofruícola, taught by Francisco Artés Calero, University Professor in the area of ​​Food Technology of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

There will also be two plenary lectures, one on Monday 18, entitled Food Safety, given by Victorio Teruel Muñoz, Deputy Director General of Food Safety Promotion of AECOSAN, and the other on Wednesday 20, entitled The Chemistry, soul of Wine, taught by Isabel Mijares García-Pelayo, Oenologist.

A program that covers current issues

During the Congress will participate important scientists and professionals who will show their experiences.

Some contributions that will be articulated through round tables on different relevant aspects, among them: Olive Oil.

Our Heritage and Food Delight.

Current and future status of the Sector;

the Circular Economy in the Food Industry for the development of new foods;

New Challenges in Water Reuse: Emerging Pollutants and Technological Trends.

In these round tables, debate and participation will be encouraged among the speakers and attendees.

On the other hand, the oral communications, poster and the workshop, with scientific basis, will also have their role through parallel talks related to the thematic areas:

Preparation, encasado and conservation of food and drinks

Quality and Food Safety.

Traceability

Food and drinks with special characteristics.

Innovation and trends

Training, education and food communication,

Environmental aspects associated with the production, distribution and preparation of food and beverages.

Sustainable development

Chemistry of food constituents

In all these areas the scientific works carried out in the research centers, universities and companies will be shown.

Exhibitors area and guided tours

The Congress is presented as a dynamic environment where attendees can visit the area of ​​exhibitors to get in touch with participating companies and institutions and establish an environment of working relationships, as well as taste some products and gifts.

There will also be a visit, on Monday 18, to the Saltworks of San Pedro, organized by the Department of Tourism of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar.

The Congress is organized by the National Association of Chemists of Spain and the Association of Chemists of Murcia, with the collaboration of the University of Murcia, Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Federation of Food and Beverage Industries of Spain and Italy, the National Technology Center of the Preserves and Food, the company EQUILABO, leader in laboratory equipment and technical services to the food and beverage industry, the Seneca Foundation, as well as other collaborations that will make the conference a place of connection between professionals, companies and scientists .

Throughout the days of the congress the assistants will taste diverse products of our Region.
