Unimar organizes five summer schools for secondary and high school students (12/06/2018)

The International University of Mar (Unimar) has organized five summer schools this year for pre-university students who want to spend part of their holidays learning and having fun in university environments.

Geography, computer science, art, biology and water sports are the areas among which young students can choose.

UMUGEO, a workshop dedicated to Geography, will begin on the 25th of June.

It is intended for students of 4th of ESO and 1st and 2nd of Bachillerato.

During the four days that the course will last, participants will learn fundamentals of Geography applied to cartography;

They will know how to use maps properly and will work with digital cartography and photointerpretation.

In addition, when they finish the training they will be able to read and interpret weather maps and understand the basics of weather prediction.

Among the competences that will be acquired, knowledge about the different natural risks and the relationships between them is also highlighted.

FABIOUMU, a summer school dedicated to Biology, will also take place between June 25 and 29 and is aimed at students in 4th of ESO and 1st year of Bachillerato.

The students who register will know how to work in a laboratory and will do experiments and studies as if they were researchers.

In addition, they will learn applied biology for industrial, biomedical and environmental purposes.

The Faculty of Fine Arts, meanwhile, organizes the fourth edition of artistic workshops between June 25 and 29, which is intended for students in 4th of ESO and 1st and 2nd year of Bachillerato.

During these four days they will be able to develop their plastic and creative skills in a university environment through the development of artistic projects in the disciplines of drawing, painting, sculpture and audiovisual media.

For those young people who prefer to enjoy the outdoors, the International University of the Sea has organized the Nautical Activities Camp in the Mar Menor in which students of 3rd and 4th of ESO and 1st of Bachillerato can practice on the shores of the Sea Less light sailing, windsurfing, paddle surfing, canoeing, games and sports on the beach, in addition to enjoying evenings at night.

This summer camp will take place between June 26 and 30 and there are few places available.

The last of the summer schools organized by Unimar is Computing, which will take place between June 25 and July 4 at the UMU School of Computing and which already has all its places covered.
