Local police and volunteers of Civil Protection of the municipality will learn how to act in cases of sexual aggression (11/06/2018)

The councilors Lola Sanchez (Traffic and Citizen Security) and Conchita Ruiz (Social Rights and Cooperation), together with the general director of Women and Equal Opportunities, Alicia Barquero, presented this morning a new initiative whose objective is that Local Police and volunteers Civil Protection, municipal social service centers and the student field are trained in prevention and care of sexual assault situation.

These courses will be taught by the Cavax service of the Autonomous Community for comprehensive care in cases of sexual assault that is integrated by a multi-professional team composed of legal counsel, psychologist, social worker and social educator and the team of attention to gender violence , EMAVI, of the City of Murcia which is composed of 1 legal adviser, 1 psychologist, 1 social worker and 4 social educators.

The first edition of the training will take place on Saturday, June 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the assembly hall of the Center for Training and Employment Initiatives of the City of Murcia, located on the FICA campus. on the Primero de Mayo avenue of Murcia.

In addition, this personnel that will receive the training will form specific devices in parties and leisure environments.

The purpose of the intervention of this service is primarily aimed at the full recovery of the victim in the short, medium and long term, so that he can face his life independently, enhancing the necessary skills to overcome the consequences of sexual violence suffered. .

The intervention contemplates all possible cases of sexual violence, thus understanding any behavior of a sexual nature carried out without the valid consent of the woman.

Includes behaviors such as exhibitionism, obscene words, touching or rape.

Three fundamental types of sexual violence can be distinguished:

o Sexual assault: Any act against the sexual freedom of another person using violence or intimidation.

The most serious form of sexual assault is rape.

o Sexual abuse: It is an attack against the sexual freedom of the person in which violence or intimidation is not used but cheating, coercion or surprise.

It can include caresses, explicit verbal propositions, oral, anal and vaginal penetration.

o Sexual harassment: It is the requirement of favors of a sexual nature, in which the harasser takes advantage of a situation of superiority, which can be work, teaching or similar.
