The spokesman for the municipal group of Cambiemos Murcia, Nacho Tornel, has proposed today that the ADN Urbano project for the renewal and social activation of the neighborhoods of El Carmen, La Paz and Santa Eulalia, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) , extends to the housing blocks of Santa Rita Street, in La Fama.
Tornel has opined that the actions foreseen by this project "must go beyond" the administrative limitations presented by the neighborhoods, in this case La Paz, the closest to Santa Rita, and thus expand to places that, due to their "exclusion", require the urgent application of measures of a social nature.
"For the DNA project to stop being smoke, it must have an impact on the real problems of the neighbors", added Tornel, who also referred to the fact that the "microurbanismo" that was the central idea in the Santa Eulalia neighborhood would be a "mockery" before the problems of La Paz and La Fama.
In this sense, he has considered that "small actions such as painting bollards are not in line with the social and residential problems".
The mayor, who moved this proposal in the last meeting of the Board of Spokesmen, has insisted that the City has to intervene to end the situation of certain blocks such as 3, where elevators do not work and the supply of drinking water is "very poor" since the water pump breaks.
"We must act where there are problems and, as a priority, where are the most serious," said Tornel, after recalling that the blocks of Santa Rita were initially social housing that have been sold and thus losing their status as public , which meant "the first step for the Administration to stop serving the needs of the families that reside there".
