The workers of Ferrovial in charge of cleaning the buildings of the IMAS (Murciano Institute of Social Action) have started an indefinite strike to demand the collection of 16.5 percent that the Autonomous Community eliminated from its monthly payrolls in 2013 after a cut in five million euros in the budget for this service.
The employees explained that they already transferred this demand to the company and that it was responsible for the payment to the general direction of Patrimonio.
However, the latter maintains that Ferrovial has to pay the percentage claimed by the workforce. Among the consequences suffered by the workers, is the reduction of their working hours and the consequent decrease in their salary.
"Many do not charge more than 400 euros a month," they say, although the worst part is that of those who are going to retire soon.
In this case, they are employees who have paid more than the necessary years but, having suffered the cut five years ago, "they will have a pension of 300 euros." To this situation of precarious work we must add that the workers have denounced threats and insults by the management of the centers in which they work. About a month ago, they sent a letter to the political groups represented in the regional Assembly and are waiting for them to solve their situation.
