The Councilor for Traffic and Public Safety, Lola Sanchez, today attended the Rescue Course in Rivers in which 15 firefighters from Murcia participate and which takes place in the Segura river.
The staff of the Fire Fighting Service of the City of Murcia plans to carry out 11 editions of the Surface Aquatic Rescue Course in 2018, for a total duration of 24 hours.
The aim of this course is for firefighters to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge about interventions in enriched aquatic environments, floods and rivers, in order to have the necessary resources and the skills to solve aquatic emergencies in different aquatic environments with safety and efficacy.
The practices of the course are made with the specific protection equipment for this type of interventions and with the boats available to the Fire Department.
Precisely the course is carried out after the important renewal of technical means, since they have acquired 12 new complete rescue suits and two boats type Raft (rescue platforms).
Likewise, the drivers have taken an additional course to obtain the nautical title called Navigation License, in order to skip Eight List boats (belonging to public bodies), since the SEIS has a pneumatic motor boat.
The course is taught by the company Rescatadores, SL, with extensive experience in this field.
The first seven editions will take place between April and June, and the rest in the month of October.
The Segura River is the environment where different maneuvers are developed, in order to train in the most realistic conditions possible.
One of the sessions takes place in the urban section of the river and another in Calasparra, where there are more currents.
In the realization of this course, it has counted on the collaboration of the Aerial Sewer Base, which has lent one of its pools to implement different rescue and self-rescue techniques.
