The municipality of Murcia has closed the month of May with the lowest level of unemployment registered that month since 2010. Specifically, the unemployment figures known today indicate that there are 30,872 Murcians demanding employment, compared to 35,832 in May 2010. which represents a decrease of 4,960 people and 13.84%.
This is confirmed in the data of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, highlighted today by the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco.
Taking as reference the same month of 2013, which with 45,285 unemployed was the worst in the series, the reduction is 31.83%, with 14,413 fewer unemployed.
On the other hand, 1,202 have found a job in the last month, after April ended with 32,074 unemployed in the municipality.
By age groups, the figures show a significant drop in youth unemployment, from 4,324 under 25 years without work in May 2010 to 2,825 today.
"Although clearly and without any doubt the data is positive, we will not stay there or we can feel satisfied," said Pacheco, who adds that "we do not settle and we will continue working to make it easier for companies to hire employees and the entrepreneurs find more facilities to start up their business ideas.
