The 'Secunda Educa' project has supported 79 socially disadvantaged children (30/05/2018)

The Councilor for Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, Rafael Gómez attends the end-of-course days of the school reinforcement workshops, the development of talents and educational leisure in English that FADE develops in San Andrés.

The event took place at the García Alix Municipal Center.

A total of 79 children in a situation of social disadvantage have received more than 3,000 hours of direct and personal attention thanks to the 'Secunda Educa' project.

This project, developed by FADE and the Obra Social 'La Caixa' and supported by the City of Murcia and the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities, aims to promote school success from non-formal educational environments;

improve the motivation and development of talents through experiential learning and play activities;

as well as facilitating the socio-educational integration of minors at social risk, with special attention to the immigrant community.

All this thanks to the voluntary action.

Specifically, attention to minors has been made through weekly workshops on school reinforcement, talent development and educational leisure in English, developed throughout the course at the CEIP San Andrés facilities (Tuesday and Thursday) and the García Alix Municipal Center (Wednesday and Friday).

All this thanks to the collaboration of more than 90 volunteers, who have offered 1,340 hours of their time to care for the minor beneficiaries.

"Through these activities, we have been able to support a particularly sensitive group by improving the academic performance of the children participating and facilitating their social insertion through inclusive training, which is a clear example of the fact that the educational activity goes beyond of the school schedule "commented Rafael Gómez.

Parents have also been protagonists of the project, since they have worked through a cycle of positive parenting sessions aimed at making them aware of their role as first educators and protagonists in the integration of their children.

Volunteer training sessions and social awareness campaigns have been other activities developed within the framework of the project and aimed at promoting the role of volunteering as an agent of social construction.
